Who we are

At St. David’s, hospitality is at the heart of who we are. As an inclusive Episcopal community, we are committed to welcoming every person with warmth, generosity, and a spirit of belonging. Inspired by the simplicity of the monastics, we create a space where all can find rest, renewal, and relationship.

We recognize that each journey is unique. Some among us have been Episcopalians all our lives; others are new to faith or searching for deeper meaning. Some seek community, others seek peace, beauty, or a place to call home. Wherever you are on your path, we meet you there—with open arms and open hearts.

We believe that every person reflects the image of God, and our diversity—in age, belief, race, identity, and experience—is a sacred gift. Through worship, spiritual growth, and compassionate service, we seek not only to share faith but to build genuine relationships rooted in love. Whether you are exploring faith for the first time, returning after time away, or longing for a place where you can simply be, we invite you to come and see. There is a place for you here.

Worship that Forms Us

Our life together is shaped by the beauty and depth of the Episcopal tradition. Rooted in Scripture, reason, and tradition, our liturgy draws us into a thoughtful, vibrant faith. We value silence and song, sacred scripture and sacrament, reflection and joy. At the heart of our worship is the Eucharist—a place where we bring our whole selves, and where Christ meets us with grace.

The Episcopal way doesn’t demand certainty, only a willingness to walk the road of faith together. The rhythm of the liturgical year helps us mark time with intention, inviting us to live more deeply into the story of Christ’s love. Our worship is not just something we attend; it’s something that forms us—opening our hearts, grounding our lives, and sending us out renewed.

Faith in Action

At St. David’s, our faith is not just something we practice on Sundays. It moves us into the world with compassion and purpose. We believe that every act of service, no matter how small, is part of God’s work of healing and reconciliation.

Our mission and outreach ministries reflect our commitment to walk in love alongside our neighbors, especially those facing systemic injustice or hardship. Through ongoing relationships with organizations like Friendship Place, Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington, and Bishop Walker School, we join in the work of addressing homelessness, food insecurity, and educational inequity. We learn from and with our partners as we strive together for a more just and compassionate community.

We also respond to needs beyond our neighborhood by supporting international relief efforts, engaging with Episcopal migration ministries, and standing for justice wherever we are called. Whether it’s sharing a meal, writing a note of encouragement, or showing up in solidarity, we believe Christ is present in every act of mercy and love.

Who was St. David?

St. David of Wales, the patron saint of our parish, was a 6th-century Celtic bishop known for his deep faith, humble spirit, and commitment to simplicity, scholarship, and service. He founded monastic communities across Wales that became centers of prayer, learning, and hospitality.

St. David encouraged his followers to “be joyful, keep the faith, and do the little things”—a phrase that continues to inspire our life together at St. David’s. His legacy reminds us that even the smallest acts, when rooted in love, can transform the world.
