Acolytes

Acolytes at St. David’s offer to the glory of God their gifts in assisting at St. David’s worship services. Their gifts enhance the worship experience for everyone at St. David’s. St David’s Acolytes come in a number of varieties, including crucifers, torch bearers, and book bearers. Crucifers carry the cross and lead the worship procession. Torch bearers follow in procession carrying candles, and usually light and extinguish the candles. Book bearers carry the Gospel book in procession and hold the book for the Gospeller to read from. Acolytes at the 9:15 service are usually children and youth, while at the 8:00 and 11:15 services adults are usually acolytes. Training is offered on a regular basis. If you would like to be an Acolyte, please call the parish office on 202.966.2093, or contact the rector, Fr. Robin Dodge, at robindodge@starpower.net.
