Lay Ministers
.

Lay Ministers at St. David’s offer to the glory of God their gifts in assisting at St. David’s worship services. Their gifts enhance the worship experience for everyone at St. David’s. St David’s Lay Ministers come in a number of varieties, including lectors and intercessors, chalicists, ushers, and family ministers at the 9:15 service. Lectors read the appointed Scripture lesson for the day. Intercessors lead the Prayers of the People. Chalicists bear the cup at Communion. Family Ministers at the 9:15 service and Ushers at the 11:15 service greet people at the door, give them the worship aids they need, present the bread and wine and collection at the offering, and guide people to Communion. Training is offered on a regular basis. With special training and licensing by the Bishop, Lay Ministers can also bring Communion in the form of the Reserved Sacrament to those who are in the hospital or housebound. If you would like to be a Lay Minister, please call the parish office on 202.966.2093, or contact the rector, Fr. Robin Dodge, at robindodge@starpower.net.
